Lake Melville School is a K-12 school proudly based in the community of North West River in Labrador, Canada. Established as Lake Melville Central High School on June 11th, 1971 the school is currently run by the Newfoundland English School District and has a student enrolment of approximately 110 with a staff of 23.
Lake Melville School is a non-denominational coeducational school and is attended by students from both North West River and the neighbouring community of Sheshatshiu which is only a short jaunt across the river that runs between them. We offer Kindergarten through Grade 12 (Level 3) courses both in school through our teaching staff and online through the province's CDLI program.
The school is comprised of a single building that takes its unique shape from the traditional tool known as the ulu. It contains the classrooms, gymnasium, administration offices, Sunshine Room (IRT Support), music room, a skilled trade workshop and a new Library and Learning Commons that opened during the 2020 school year.
Our sports teams are known as the Titans and can usually be found competing primarily in Volleyball and Badminton.
